A Hidden Gem
Our whisky makers have been keeping a close eye on these particular casks, awaiting the perfect moment to bottle the spirit and capture its character.
This sunshine gold whisky was initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels and finished in hand-selected Semisecco Marsala barriques.
These Sicilian casks have imparted hallmark citrus and orchard fruit characteristics, and festive spice.
The Aroma
Floral overtones with sweet clementine, stoned fruits, honeyed malt, and a hint of grape must and spiced vanilla
The Palate
Candied orange peel, sweet pear, toffee, and brioche, with subtle hints of roasted walnuts, clove, and cinnamon
The Finish
Sweet citrus and rich oak, and a fading memory of festive spice
The Marsala Influence
Our purposefully idiosyncratic Still House shapes a new make spirit of exceptional depth, with robust malt character and bright citrus notes. This gives our whisky makers the foundation required for long and complex maturation.
American white oak ex Bourbon barrels provide the first stage of maturation, building structure while preserving the clarity of The Dalmore’s citrus fruit character.
Semisecco Marsala barriques then add a distinctive layer of complexity. This medium sweet style of Sicilian fortified wine brings sweetness, warmth, and oxidative depth, adding notes of candied citrus, honeyed fruit, roasted nuts, and gentle spice.
Together, these casks shape the final design: a 14 Year Old whisky with depth of spirit, layered complexity, and a distinctive Semisecco Marsala finish that remains clearly The Dalmore.
